Any speculative fiction writers/readers in Austin this weekend should come see me at ArmadilloCon 2026! If you’ve been here before then you should know that the convention will take place at a different hotel this time. I won’t be directing the Workshop like in years prior, as I’m busy with a move and some medical issues, but that means I might actually see some panels this year!
Since attending the convention in 2021, these have been my favorite ArmadilloCon memories:
- Chatting with people at Cosmic Coffee’s Flash Fiction Writing Socials
- Hosting the Flash Fiction Writing Contest Award Ceremony, where we distributed prizes and read stories for the winners. I also got to come up with fun alternate awards, like “Coolest Fantasy Culture” and “Funniest Ending”
- Getting an official poetry license at the workshop (it’s in my wallet, ask me about it sometime)
- Watching Hana Lee guess her own name for victory at Fannish Feud
- Volunteering for 5 different services (moving art + packets distribution + con ops + hospitality + Writers’ Workshop) during the 2023 ArmadilloCon.
- Playing a scavenger hunt game to give last year’s workshop instructors their well-deserved free drink tickets
- Running the Writers’ Workshop, natch
